  1. You've been pretty consistent with cranking out the podcasts this year... good job!

Horizon Zero Dawn - I'm having fun with it. So far, there's not as much to do as I thought their would be (in regards to variety and innovation in game-play), and mission types are pretty standard at the core if all (wipe out camps, find collectibles, fetch quests), but what is there is a lot of fun. I don't mind having the same objectives come up if the objectives are entertaining to complete. I also find the developers take on a matriarchal society interesting, and am interested in where the story is going. I'm glad I picked it up, and look forward to my time with it, which will probably be quite a while as I am trying to complete as many of the side missions as I can. I'm definitely not rushing through it, but I know what I do know what I want to play next...

Nier Automata - I played the first one just a year or two ago, and it was good. I liked the combat far and above more than anything else in the game; the developers were able to keep the enemies and environments engaging and entertaining. Although I had fun with it I didn't fall in love with it; definitely not enough to bother with the hassle to get all the various endings. But I am looking forward to this sequel quite a bit. This seems like it's the work of Platinum Games' A-team, and I'm a fan of theirs. Bayonetta, Revengeance, Vanquish! Better than Pac-Man. ;)

Which games go into the Mario timeline - Geeze, I dunno. I'm not invested enough to care. :D I made a joke (JUST a joke) once about the original SMB - People say the love the original SMB, but they don't. No one wants to ever play that game. That's why everyone uses the warp zones: so they don't have to play it!

  2. Update on Horizon Zero Dawn - My progress report says I'm about %50 complete at this point. I think this is an excellent case of refinement over innovation. I've seen a lot of the same ideas in other games, but this one executes on them very well. Exciting, challenging, engaging, and overall a lot of fun. I'm always excited when I get a chance to play it, and when I start I don't want to stop. The only thing I'm not really interested in doing right are the hunting trials, although I may give them another go after I get through the campaign. I also only recently noticed the tutorials, and that you have to activate them to get credit for them. I found that a little weird, but now that I know I've been checking some off my list. It's a nice way to get some extra XP.
