Assassin's Creed Lineage Part 1

Last year Ubisoft bought Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio that created the effects for '300' and 'Sin City'. Why would a game publisher buy a movie effects company?

Ubisoft said that it acquired Hybride "to share technology and to develop tools in order to optimize the creation of both video games and visual effects and to offer gamers visual experiences that rival those of the cinema."

So, did they pull it off? Here's the fruits of their labor, does this offer you a visual experience that rivals cinema?

Click on the above video to jump to the YouTube page. In fact, I recommend you do so, so you can go HD and full screen, the way it should be viewed. It is a bit on the violent side so watch at your own risk and keep the young'uns away.

When I watch things like this and the Halo 3 and ODST shorts I sometimes think that Hollywood should stop doing game adaptations and just let the game studios make their own movies.

I'm looking forward to Part II along with as Assassin's Creed II.
